What families should know
An evaluation is a chance to understand your child—not a pass-or-fail test. The clinician will ask about strengths, routines, communication, play, and the moments that feel most challenging for your family.
Depending on the service, the visit may include conversation with a caregiver, play-based observation, and structured activities. Bring any referral, insurance information, and recent reports you would like the clinician to consider.
Afterward, the team explains what they observed, answers questions, and discusses whether therapy is recommended. If it is, you will work together on goals that are practical, measurable, and meaningful to your family.
